Fazunchar 2021

Fazunchar 2021

By Arden de Raaij

It’s been a while since I’ve visited anything resembling an art festival, but last Saturday I had the pleasure to have an afternoon strolling around the Portuguese village of Figueiró dos Vinhos where the 2021 edition of Fazunchar festival took place. The multi-day art festival which took place from the 14th to the 22nd of August featured murals, installations, expositions, workshops, guided tours and more.

This years edition featured new work of national and international artists Pantónio, Mariana Duarte Santos, Samira, Third, Isaac Cordal, Elisa Capdevila, Bosoletti and Perrine Honoré. Besides paintings and installations of these artists, there is also plenty of art spread aroud time made in previous editions.

As the town of Figueró dos Vinhos is beautifully located in a mountainous area, there’s plenty of breathtaking views. The charming town with decayed stucco walls and cobblestone streets is a joy to discover.

Around every corner there might be a mural or installation which even though they’re made by relatively young and modern artists, seem to complement their surroundings.
