Home interviews photography SPAM! with Lavive

beach

We read in one of her testimonials that Lavive isn't one of those big rockstars of flickr, but she's something better. She's one of those people who quietly, behind the scenes, is always there, reliably, whose kind and thoughtful nature help transform flickr from a robotic image dump to a living and breathing community. We couldn't agree more. She's not big words, but her images speak louder. Yet we managed to get a little information out of this Canarie.

"I'd like to think that my energy, when I'm in the mood, is contagious..."

Who's the person behind the photos?
Islander female, 36.

What got you into photography, and what makes you keep on doing it?
Fascination... now it's my oldest habit. I fell in love again with photography since i was given a holga.

If we'd like to trade something for a photo you made, what should the CFYE delivery man bring to your door?
Another picture. I'm trading photos with some flick friends. Amazing. I've recently traded some polaroid rolls for a beautiful aquarela.

What's your favourite item to take on the road with you?
Old shoes.

Something really fun about me:
I will surely forget your name and even your face, but not what picture was hanging on your wall.

Best shooting location we should check out?
Hm, anything misty.

Tell us about your work as a photographer, did you just picked up a camera and educate yourself?
Yes, until a stranger crashed my dog, he was a photographer. I decided to attend a one year course at his home. This was 14 years ago.

What's your camera setup?
I shoot a Holga, and i've recently won a Diana.

How does your environment react on you taking your camera everywhere and shooting all the time?
I'd like to think that my energy, when i'm in the mood, is contagious. They like it, particularly landscapes. If i say, oh i'd be so nice to take a picture from the top of that mountain...my boyfriend gets ready for action.

What's the strangest thing that ever happened to you when you were out shooting photos?
I stopped a policeman from beating a guy.

Who is your favourite movie/gaming/cartoon character?
Mafalda, argentina.

Which artist would you like to work with?
I'd love to take pictures in a circus.

If you could fill a swimming pool with something, what would it be?
The sea.

Favourite city, and coolest thing about it?
My town is quite nice and sunny.

What can we expect from you in the future?
I'm trying to take the picture of the almost invisible.
